This petition was initiated by Beso te Diaspora, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and connecting the Albanian diaspora worldwide.

We, the undersigned members of the Albanian-American Community in Michigan, Midwest and in Southern Ontario, Canada, are calling for the establishment of a full-service Albanian Consulate General in Detroit, Michigan.

Metro Detroit is home to one of the largest Albanian communities in the U.S., yet we lack direct access to essential consular services.

Why It Matters

• Access & Convenience: Local support for basic needs such as passports, IDs, birth & marriage certificates, notarizations and legalizations, transcript and diploma authentications, etc. reducing the need for costly and inconvenient travel to New York or Washington, D.C.
• Stronger Ties: This would help promote trade, culture, tourism, and investments between Albania, United States and Canada.
• Emergency Assistance: Immediate help in matters of legal, health, or travel emergencies for Albanian citizens and their families.

For generations, Albanians in the United States and Canada have been devoted and productive members of their respective communities, receiving education, building businesses, raising families, and contributing to society. Yet, our hearts, our traditions, and our loyalty remain deeply tied to our homeland.

Now, it is time for Albania to stand with its own sons and daughters by providing the support and consular services this flourishing part of diaspora deserves.
